A booster is a temporary buff: you activate it and it lasts 4 hours. You can keep up to 3 boosters active at the same time. Boosters stack with permanent bonuses (research, senators, anomalies).

In the game code, "Lunar Shield" is a booster №30 of the MoonDextruct family with value 0.3 (boostersList). While the booster is active, its value is added to the MoonDextruct factor; when the timer runs out, the effect switches off automatically.
