Xterium glossary
Terms, abbreviations and slang used by Xterium players. What DM, EE, Hostile, AB and other words mean — in plain language, with links to detailed sections of the encyclopedia.
Resources and currencies
Premium currency. Spent on boosters, packs, exchanges at the Trader and speeding up upgrades.
ResourcesA special premium resource. Awarded, among other things, for achievements and for placements in tournaments.
ResourcesA very rare material found on expeditions (a large fleet is needed). Used for extra upgrades (overclocking) of anomalies and the arsenal. Do not confuse with the Death Star (DS).
ResourcesIn Russian slang the abbreviation ZS has two meanings: 1) Death Star — the ship used to destroy moons (see DS); 2) Hall of Fame — ranking marks. Do not confuse it with Stellar Ore (SO).
ShipsShorthand for large numbers: k = 1,000, kk = 1,000,000, kkk = 1,000,000,000.
A building on the moon that mines Dark Matter (DM). The main source of premium currency at your base.
ColliderAn additional upgrade beyond the maximum level (anomalies, arsenal) paid for with Stellar Ore.
ArsenalThe resource that pays for research. Produced by the Laboratory. The larger your Science reserve, the faster research runs.
ResearchA basic resource. Mined by the Metal Mine, used for buildings, fleet and defense.
ResourcesA basic resource. Mined by the Crystal Mine, needed for most ships, defense and research.
ResourcesFleet fuel. Produced by the Deuterium Synthesizer, spent on flights and some buildings. The colder the planet, the more deuterium it yields.
Temperature and deuteriumFree energy on the planet. Needed to keep the mines running: too little energy and production drops.
Production and energyExpedition and the Hostile sector
The expedition — flights into deep space for resources, fleet and Dark Matter.
ExpeditionThe common name for the enemies: Ruins, Barbarians, Pirates and Devastators. You farm parts and resources from them.
ExpeditionThe strongest Hostile faction. Their bosses drop cores and arsenal parts.
Battles with the factionsThe weakest Hostile sector. Income in the Ruins is about 25% of your fleet's points.
ExpeditionA Hostile sector a bit tougher than the Ruins. One of the four Hostile enemies.
ExpeditionA strong Hostile sector. One of the four Hostile enemies (just before the Devastators).
ExpeditionDrop from Devastator bosses. Used to upgrade the arsenal (strengthening the fleet).
ArsenalFleet and defense
Abbreviations for the fleet classes (Fleet Light/Medium/Heavy).
ShipsAbbreviations for the defense classes (Defense Light/Medium/Heavy). Here DM means Defense Medium, not Dark Matter.
DefenseHide (save) your fleet from an enemy attack — send it on a flight or an expedition so it isn't lost.
ShipsA colloquial name for research — weapons, armor, engines, espionage and so on.
ResearchAn object formed from the debris field after a battle. The chance of forming is at most 20%. Special buildings are built on the moon.
Debris and the moonRemains over the planet after a battle: 50% of the resources of the destroyed fleet (defense gives no debris).
Debris and the moonCollects the debris field after a battle. Its cargo hold determines how much debris it hauls in one trip.
ShipsA ship for founding a new planet on a free position (in the game code it is the Engineering vessel). You can have up to 18 planets — the limit grows with the Colonization research.
ColonizationA cheap source of energy. It gives more energy on hot inner planets and less on cold outer ones.
ShipsA building on the moon: it scans an enemy planet and shows its fleet in flight. One scan costs 100 Dark Matter.
PhalanxThe largest and most expensive ship. Able to destroy moons (it releases a graviton). Players call it the DS.
ShipsDefense with no attack: the small, medium and giant domes only hold a shield, covering the rest of your defense.
DefenseNames of the defense classes: Guardian, Panzer, Hammer, Achilles — in DL/DM/DH variants (light/medium/heavy).
How to build defenseThe top defense turrets — against light, medium and heavy fleet respectively.
DefenseAlliance, war and more
Several alliance players hit one target in a single combined strike. In the game code this is the Joint Attack (ACS); players call it a joint hit or AB. Available to those in your alliance or friends list.
Alliance warBoosters bought with Dark Matter/antimatter (mine output, energy, science and so on).
ShopThe game's technical support service.
A protective mode for an inactive player — the base cannot be attacked.
An improvement — raising the level of a building, ship, research or the arsenal.
A player who hasn't logged in for a long time (an inactive).
A limit on the number of attacks on a single planet. During a war it is up to 6 attacks per planet within 24 hours.
Alliance warAn alliance's specialization: Grabtors (attack), Senteri (all-rounder/bosses), Talkors (defense/economy).
Alliance warRelations between alliances: union, peace, war. War and peace are declared by a player with the diplomacy right.
AlliancesA premium status bought with Dark Matter: it widens your limits (for example, the number of saved reports) and grants bonuses.
ShopA box from your storage: open it and get a random reward (resources, fleet, parts, artifacts). There are 7 kinds in all.
ContainersThe building whose level sets how many resources you can exchange at the Trader in a single operation (higher level — bigger lot).
TraderThe building where, for Mods, you upgrade the attack, armor and shield of ships and defense (up to level 100).
ModernizationsThe resource of the Modernization Center: for Mods you upgrade the attack, armor and shield of fleet and defense.
ModernizationsKeeping your fleet in an ally's orbit for joint defense (to stand in hold).
Alliance warA battle in which neither side is destroyed within 10 rounds — the fleets disengage.
How a battle worksA tool that calculates the outcome of a battle from the fleet compositions — before you actually attack.
How a battle worksAn attack by the Death Star on a moon: with luck the moon is destroyed (the ship releases a graviton).
Debris and the moonThe alliance's shared resource storage: players make deposits, and shared goals are funded from the bank.
AlliancesThe four types of points that make up a player's power in the rankings.
Power points and rankingA weak player cannot be attacked while the points gap with a strong one is too large — the protection is lifted once they grow.
Rules and etiquetteAn experienced, high-rank player. The opposite of an inactive.
Running several accounts by a single player. In space strategy games this is usually forbidden by the rules.
Rules and etiquetteA one-way transfer of resources to a weak account to strengthen it. Usually forbidden by the game rules.
Rules and etiquetteBuildings and planet upgrades
The building that produces Science for research. The higher its level, the faster research runs.
ResearchThe buildings that construct fleet and defense. The Nano-Shipyard builds faster than the regular Shipyard.
BuildingsA building that raises the maximum reserve of a resource (metal, crystal or deuterium) and hides part of the reserve from plundering.
Storage and plunderingA building on the moon that expands the number of fields (spaces for construction).
ColonyA building on the moon: it instantly moves fleet between your own moons. It has a cooldown between transfers.
TeleportStrengthening the planetary anomalies with Stellar Ore — permanent bonuses to output, storage and defense.
