Planets in Xterium vary by type, and their type depends on their orbit—the closer to the star, the hotter they are. Temperature directly affects resource extraction: energy is easier to generate on hot planets, deuterium is easier to collect on cold ones, and Earth-like planets offer a balance between the two.

Here, all types are grouped by temperature: hot (scorching, volcanic, desert, arid), moderate (rocky, oceanic, terrestrial), cold (swampy, toxic, tundra, frozen, icy), and moons—natural (formed from debris after battles) and artificial (created by a collider).

All planets have the same range of building slots (200–270). Open the planet's profile to view its temperature, orbits, and features.

Moons: creation and destruction

A moon is a special body above a planet with its own buildings. It appears from battle debris or is built in the Planetarium — and it can be destroyed.

Creation

After a big battle, debris can form a moon — the more debris, the higher the chance, up to 20%. You can also build one in the Planetarium for 10,000 dark matter, 500,000 metal and 200,000 crystal — and the "Create moon" artifact makes it free.

Destruction

A moon is destroyed by a Death Star fleet. The bigger the moon, the lower the chance — for a moon near 10,000 km it drops to almost zero. The attacking fleet also risks self-destruction, and a Lunar Base and Collider lower the destruction chance.

Hot Planets

Close to the star, high temperature. The sun is very warm—it's easier to generate energy.

Moderate Planets

Medium orbits, comfortable temperature. A balance between energy and deuterium.

Cold Planets

Far from the star, the temperature is low. The cold makes it easier to collect deuterium.

Moons

Natural moon (made from debris left over from battles) and artificial moon (for resources or an artifact). Unlocks lunar structures.

Swamp Planet Cold Planets A cool planet in the 5th–6th orbits (−150…0°). The low temperature helps with deuterium collection.
Toxic Planet Cold Planets A cold planet in the 6th–7th orbits (−225…−75°). The cold makes it easier to extract deuterium.
Tundra Planet Cold Planets A cold planet in the 6th–7th orbits (−225…−75°). The low temperature facilitates deuterium extraction.
Frozen Planet Cold Planets A very cold planet at 7–8 orbits (−275…−150°). The extreme cold significantly facilitates the collection of deuterium.
Ice Planet Cold Planets The planet farthest from the star (8th orbit, −275…−225°). The temperature never rises above 0°—this is where deuterium is easiest to collect.
Natural Moon Moons A planet's natural satellite. It appears with a certain probability after major battles above the planet—a moon forms from the debris. Unlocks lunar structures.
Artificial Moon Moons An artificial moon created by a collider. It provides the same lunar capabilities as a natural moon, but is created intentionally.

The game has 14 planets. They are split into 4 groups: Hot Planets — 4, Moderate Planets — 3, Cold Planets — 5, Moons — 2.
How do planet types differ in Xterium?
The planet type depends on the orbit and the temperature. The closer to the star — the hotter. Temperature affects production: on hot planets it is easier to generate energy, on cold ones — to collect deuterium, while Earth-type planets give a balance.
On which planet is it best to mine deuterium?
On the coldest ones — icy and frozen (distant orbits, temperature below zero). The colder the planet, the easier deuterium collection goes.
Which planet has more energy?
On the hottest ones — scorching and volcanic (close orbits). The sun heats them more strongly, so generating energy comes more easily.
How many building fields are there on a planet?
All planet types have the same spread — roughly 200–270 fields. The exact number for your planet is determined randomly when it appears.
How does a natural moon differ from an artificial one?
A natural moon appears by chance from debris after large battles over a planet, while an artificial one is created deliberately — for resources in the Planetarium (dark matter, metal, crystal) or with the “Create a moon” artifact. Their capabilities are the same — both unlock moon buildings.
