On this page
Every time you log into the game, you’ll see a message icon with a counter—this is your report center. This is where you’ll receive reconnaissance results, battle summaries, resource deliveries, news from the administration, and messages from other players. Let’s break it down step by step to see where everything is and how to avoid getting overwhelmed by hundreds of notifications. The numbers here are taken from the game’s code.
Where do these numbers come from? The retention periods, archive limits, and report types are taken from the game code (the message center and the cleanup task). Explanations in plain language—based on the player wiki (wiki, forum thread). Where the wiki differs from the game, we trust the code (for example, the message retention period is 14 days, not 6).
Where to Find Posts
The message icon is located in the top bar of the game. It displays the number of unread notifications. When you open the message center, you'll see tabs for different types of notifications—each type is separated so that important messages don't get lost among the less important ones.
What Types of Reports Are There?
In the game, reports are categorized by type:
- Espionage — intelligence reports. If there was at least one spy probe on your planet, you’ll receive a report indicating that someone has scanned you. Conversely, this is also where your own intelligence reports on enemy bases are stored.
- PvP Battles — Results of battles against other players: both your attacks and the attacks against you.
- PvE Battles — Results of Missions in the Hostail Sector (Ruins, Barbarians, Pirates, Ravagers).
- Transportation — reports on the transport of resources between planets and moons, on delivered resources, and on collected debris.
- System — service notifications: the end of a senator’s term, upgrades for sale on the market, a response from technical support, a top finish in a tournament, a TOP battle, etc. News from the administration (about updates, disabling attacks) is also posted here.
- Archive — posts that you've saved yourself (more on this below).
Personal messages from players and alliance correspondence are located in separate tabs.
Archive: Save What's Important
You can archive any message—and it won't disappear on its own anymore.
- The archive can hold up to 500 messages (this is the limit set by the game's code).
- When the archive is full, the game will display the following warning: “The number of messages in the archive has exceeded the limit.”
- Archived posts are not deleted during automatic cleanup—unlike regular posts.
The archive is a convenient place to store valuable intelligence and the results of major battles that you may want to revisit.
Letters are stored for 14 days
Important note: Regular posts don't last forever.
- The game automatically deletes messages older than 14 days (in the code, this is `
del_oldstuff = 14`). - The exception is the archive: everything you've saved there will remain until you delete it yourself.
So the rule is simple: if something is important, put it in the archive right away; otherwise, it will disappear in two weeks.
Private Messages and Alliance Messages
- Players — personal messages from other players.
- Outbox — your sent messages.
- Alliance — messages from the alliance leader and their deputies (players of lower ranks cannot send messages to the entire alliance).
- Intelligence and battle reports can be forwarded to allies—forwarded reports are automatically added to the alliance tabs “Espionage” and “Battles.”
The alliance leader and deputy leader can send a message to the entire alliance via the alliance tab. Messages can be addressed to specific ranks (for example, only to deputies or only to diplomats).
Notifications on Your Phone
If you're playing via the app, you can enable push notifications so you don't miss anything important while you're away from the game. The game’s code includes notifications for: attacks, destruction, espionage, private messages, expeditions, the production fund, and the collider. You can customize the frequency and types of notifications in your profile, under the settings section.
How to Tidy Up
When you have hundreds of notifications, the control buttons come in handy:
- Mark everything as read—remove the number from the icon with a single click without deleting anything.
- Delete Selected — Check the boxes next to the items you want to remove and delete only those.
- Delete all messages of this type — clears the current tab (if you go to "System," the system messages will be deleted).
- Delete All — deletes all messages except those in the archive.
Tip: Don't let junk pile up. Every couple of days, go through your tabs—move the important ones to the archive, and delete the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long are messages stored in Xterium? Regular messages are automatically deleted after 14 days. Anything saved to the archive is stored indefinitely—until you delete it yourself.
How many messages can be stored in the archive? Up to 500. If the archive becomes full, the game will warn you that the archive limit has been exceeded.
Why did the old battle report go missing? Most likely, it was older than 14 days and was deleted by the automatic cleanup. To prevent this from happening, be sure to move important reports to the archive right away.
Who can post to the entire alliance? Only the alliance leader and the deputy leader. You can also address a message to a specific rank.
How can I clear the notification count without deleting the messages? Click "Mark All as Read"—the counter on the icon will reset to zero, but the emails themselves will remain.
