Contracts are short tasks that earn you rewards. You accept a task (for example, going on an expedition several times or dealing damage in battle), complete it within the allotted time, and receive a reward: mods (a special enhancement resource), parts, and experience. Below, we’ll explain how to accept a contract, the different difficulty levels, and what you need to know to ensure the task counts. Everything is described based on the game’s code; reward formulas depend on your level and stats, so they’re given in words rather than exact numbers.
Where did this guide come from? The mechanics of contracts are described in the source code of the game Xterium War of Alliances. Tips on choosing contracts were compiled by the player community—on the player wiki and in the forum thread. These are recommendations from players, not official instructions.
Step 1. Open the list of contracts
Contracts are all gathered in a single section of the game. There, you’ll see available missions grouped by difficulty, with an “Accept” button next to each one. You can only have one active contract at a time—until it’s completed or canceled, you can’t accept a new one.
The list of contracts is updated approximately every 30 minutes—a timer showing how long until the next update is displayed next to the section. If there isn't a suitable assignment right now, you can wait for the update and choose a new one.
Step 2. Select the difficulty level
All contracts are divided into three types based on complexity—this affects both the time required and the size of the reward:
- Quick Challenges — designed to take about 30 minutes of playtime. They offer the fewest rewards (usually 1 star).
- Regular missions — last about 60 minutes. Average reward (usually 2 stars).
- Long missions — designed to last about 90 minutes. The greatest reward (usually 3 stars).
Stars indicate a contract's value: the more stars, the more mods you'll receive for completing it. In addition, each contract has its own difficulty level (low, medium, high): the higher the difficulty, the less extra time you have to complete it, but the higher the reward multiplier.
Step 3. Accept the contract and complete the task
Click “Accept”—the task will become active, and the timer will start. Next, you’ll need to fulfill the contract terms. Contracts come in different forms:
- Combat — to deal damage in battle or earn war points.
- Expeditionary — go on an [](/knowledge/encyclopedia/expedition) expedition, bring back resources, a fleet, dark matter, or starlite ore.
- The expedition's objectives include flying and battling in the Ruins, against the Barbarians, Pirates, and Ancients (Devastators), as well as collecting parts and blueprints.
⚠️ An important detail regarding the game code: For expedition contracts, you must dispatch your fleet and accept the contract no later than 2 minutes after dispatching it—otherwise, the flights will not count. In combat contracts, only damage dealt to an active player counts: battles against inactive players and the destruction of defenses do not earn points.
Step 4. Claim your prize
When the completion progress reaches the target goal, a “Claim Reward” button will appear on the contract. You can claim it while in your home galaxy. For completing the contract, you’ll receive:
- Credits are the main resource used for rewards; the amount depends on the number of stars in the contract.
- Parts and drawings from the arsenal or standard resources (depending on the specific contract).
- Experience contributes to character development.
Contracts also award points toward the individual and alliance tournaments, so it's worth completing them regularly.
If the contract doesn't work out
You can cancel a contract by clicking the “Cancel” button—this will free up space for a new one. This is useful if you took on a task that’s taking too long or if you realize you won’t be able to finish it on time. After canceling, simply select another contract from the list (or wait for the list to refresh).
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find contracts in Xterium? In a separate section of the game's contracts. There, you can see available missions sorted by difficulty and a "Accept" button. The list is updated about once every half hour.
How many contracts can you have at the same time? Only one active contract at a time. Until it is completed or canceled, you cannot take on a new one.
How complex can contracts be? There are three types: quick (about 30 minutes, smaller reward), regular (about 60 minutes), and long (about 90 minutes, largest reward). The higher the difficulty of the task, the shorter the time limit, but the higher the reward multiplier.
What is the compensation for fulfilling the contract? The main reward is mods (enhancement resources), and the number of mods increases with the number of stars in the contract. Additional rewards include arsenal parts and blueprints, standard resources, and experience. Contracts also earn you points toward tournaments.
Why wasn't my flight to the expedition included in the contract? According to the game rules, you must send your fleet and accept the contract within 2 minutes of sending it. If you’re late, the flights won’t count. And in combat contracts, only damage dealt to an active player counts.
